Supporting your brother’s dreams is a nice idea. Having to accompany him to every audition makes it a considerably bigger commitment.

*Stuck on You* gives one brother a desire to become a Hollywood actor and the other a perfectly reasonable preference for staying home. Since they’re conjoined twins, this requires some negotiation.

**What It’s About**

Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear play Bob and Walt Tenor, brothers running a burger restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard. They’ve built a comfortable life together and work remarkably well as a team, although their personalities don’t always line up.

Bob is shy and happy with the life they have. Walt enjoys performing and wants to find out whether he can make it beyond the local stage.

Bob reluctantly agrees to a move to Los Angeles, where Walt begins pursuing acting work. Getting a part is difficult enough for anybody. Getting one when your brother will also need to be in the room presents additional complications.

Their new surroundings bring romantic possibilities, uncomfortable explanations and an encounter with Cher, playing a decidedly unflattering version of herself. As Walt gets closer to the career he wants, the brothers have to consider how much each should be expected to sacrifice for the other.

**Who It’s For**

*Stuck on You* is for viewers who enjoy an absurd comedy that takes its characters’ feelings seriously. The Farrelly brothers supply physical jokes, sexual humor and awkward situations, but Bob and Walt are people you get to know beyond the premise.

Damon gives Bob a hesitant sweetness, while Kinnear makes Walt’s confidence both appealing and occasionally exhausting. Their easy familiarity makes the everyday cooperation believable, which helps when the situations become ridiculous.

Not every gag lands, and the Hollywood detour stretches a fairly simple story. Some viewers will also find the mix of crude humor and sentiment uneven.

Still, the affection between these brothers gives the movie a reason to keep going after the initial joke. If you like your silliness with a little warmth, they’re good company.

Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear make an unlikely comedy pairing work by making the brotherhood believable. The jokes can be crude, but there’s considerable affection underneath them.
