Elizabeth Holmes convinced some very smart, very wealthy people that her company had developed a revolutionary blood-testing machine. That didn't end well.

Now, with a prison sentence approaching, she's inviting a documentary crew into her home to show the world who she really is. Given how the Theranos story turned out, that's an interesting decision.

**What It’s About**

In the final 34 days before entering prison, Holmes agrees to let filmmaker Nathan Fielder and his crew live with her and her partner, Billy Evans. She wants a chance to tell her side of the story, away from the headlines and the people who have already decided what to think of her.

Fielder, working with co-director Lance Oppenheim, is willing to listen. But listening isn't the same as believing.

He asks questions Holmes doesn't always answer convincingly, and the more time the crew spends inside her home, the harder it becomes to know what anyone is really revealing. The film starts as a portrait of a disgraced entrepreneur, then heads in directions that are better left unexplained.

**Who It’s For**

If you're interested in the Theranos scandal, there's plenty here to hold your attention. But *You Can See Everything* isn't simply another documentary explaining how Holmes fooled investors. It's more interested in the way people present themselves, particularly when they know they're being watched.

Fielder's awkward, almost painfully direct questions make for some uncomfortable exchanges, and there's a strange humor running through much of it. You may find yourself laughing, then wondering whether you should be.

There are reservations. At nearly three hours, this asks for some patience, and anyone expecting a straightforward investigation with tidy conclusions may find the whole thing frustrating. It frequently makes you question not just Holmes, but the people making the movie.

That's also what makes it different. *You Can See Everything* is an unusual choice for movie night, but if you enjoy documentaries that leave you thinking and arguing afterward, it's well worth considering.

Elizabeth Holmes opens her home to the cameras, hoping they'll help tell her side of the story. What follows is a strange, funny, increasingly uncomfortable documentary about just how difficult it can be to recognize the truth.
