Two elite snipers are stationed on opposite sides of a giant classified gorge, ordered to shoot anything that tries to climb out—and not ask what’s down there.

That’s The Gorge.

Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy play the two operatives, each alone in a guard tower with nothing but a very large hole between them. They’re not supposed to communicate, which naturally means they eventually do, and their strange long-distance relationship becomes one of the best parts of the movie.

Naturally, they end up in the gorge.

That’s when the movie changes gears.

The Gorge starts as a mystery with an unexpectedly good romantic angle, then gradually turns into a much bigger science-fiction/action/horror movie.

In other words, it gets a bit weird.

And increasingly ridiculous.

But Teller and Taylor-Joy have enough chemistry to hold the whole thing together.

It works.

Barely.

💡
A strange mix of romance, sci-fi and action that works mostly because Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy make it work.
